ABOUT US

Our Histroy

We got our first Ridgeback almost 20 years ago and have been in love with the breed ever since. Over the years we have also fostered and rehabilitated many breeds of dogs but none of them capture your soul the way these beauties do. We lost our first female after only 9 short years due to cancer which started us on our journey to  focus on Health and Longevity over ribbons or titles from the show ring.

Our Ridgebacks are part of the family and live and work with us on our small homestead and have traveled the USA with us as well. So many people are happy to meet a Ridgeback in person for the first time.

We hope to help more people have the opportunity to experience life with these unique dogs that are sensitive, devoted and intuitive while at the same time athletic, rowdy and raucous characters. They will instantly transform from the  rowdy play to calm and quietly curl up with you on the couch or patiently lay at your feet until you are ready to go out for more adventures.

The number one goal in the life of a Rhodesian Ridgeback: To be with my human friend as much as possible.

Please contact us if you would like to learn more about these unique dogs and come visit.

Breed Clubs

Our dogs may be registered with one or more breed clubs or registries. Since our goal is to breed dogs that are healthy and true to breed standards and characteristics.

The main 2 registries used currently are AKC and the German Breeders Club DRRC. We found a lovely Red male we wanted to include in our breeding program that had genetics that can not be found in any american bloodlines at this time. The DRRC has very high standards and oversight. To view the club standards click on the logo below.

Health & Care

At FreeWill Rhodesiains our focus in on producing quality Ridgebacks true to type and standard that can preform the original duties the breed was originally bred to preform. Our primary focus is on HEALTH and LONGEVITY.

All animals used in our breeding program have appropriate genetic testing to unsure the best possible outcomes in regards to health and longevity.

In addition we have chosen to feed  a mostly  raw food diet and prefer to use natural and homeopathic treatments with very minimal reliance on traditional Pharmaceutical  medicines.

We believe this gives the best chance to have animals that are free of allergies and cancers.
